Process

Project Process: For this project, we adhered to Agile Software Methodologies operating in 2 week sprints with daily meetings and weekly wireframe walkthrough screen sharing sessions. Additional documentation and notes were included within Figma files.

UX Process: To enhance the product experience, I conducted User Interview sessions with C-Suite Executives of our power user clients, and clients that volunteered to help improve the experience. Sessions were recorded, and clients were compensated accordingly.

UI Process: Utilizing the Design System I created in 2020, the Front-End efforts were streamlined. To craft wireframes efficiently, I adhered to the principles of the 8-pt Grid, and Lean UX principles. Rapid iteration from Lo-Fi to Hi-Fi in the first half of the sprint, then testing in the second half.

Takeaways

1

Form Follows Function

Early on in the project, and in my career, I prioritized aesthetics. This project taught me the importance of user research and spending the time to ask users questions. Without empathy, we are just making noise, a dog chasing it's tail.

2

Tech Debt is Detrimental

One factor of this project that was challenging to overcome was the amount of tasks built up in the past by the development team. Our lean team had to work around the schedule of the development team's bandwidth. A new challenge for me.

3

Communication is Critical

Another challenge of this project was working through the pandemic and a 100% remote team. Plus, we had a dev team that was in the opposite time zone, 8AM = 8PM. Documentation and writing skills were essential for success.
